DIRECTOR, WRITER, ACTOR
I am my best self when I have people over for dinner. More than a few, but not too large of a group that we can’t all fit snugly into my little apartment in Brooklyn.
A couple people may need to sit on the floor. That’s okay.
As a director, I want to make movies like I host a dinner party. I have planned the menu, but I want to share it with you (most likely it is arroz con gandules, which is what I make when I want to impress people, and when I want to feel at home). The space will be cozy and inviting. I want you to feel at home, but challenged; comfortable amongst old friends, and thrilled by new ones. Someone helps cook, someone picks up paper plates so we don’t have to do dishes. And we talk, and we laugh, and it all feels a little urgent, a little special, a little thrilling. And the hours go by, and at the end of the night maybe we’ve found something close to holy.
